So, last night, my little town and southwest Ohio lost a major landmark. His name - Jesus - Touchdown Jesus to be more specific. It's a statue of Jesus with his arms out that stands 62 feet tall by 40 feet wide and resides on the property of Solid Rock Church on I75. The real name of the statue is King of Kings, but it is lovingly known around here, and across the nation, as Touchdown Jesus and sometimes Big Butter Jesus (as made famous by Heywood Banks).

blog slacker
i don't seem to have much to blog lately. kind of going through a slump. everything's random. here are a few of my current random thoughts.
1. loves that cole has spent that last 30 mins playing with silly bandz that just came in the mail. he really wanted them.
2. i'm hoping the hummus i bought at the grocery is as good as the hummus i recently had at a party. the last brand i tried was a bit bitter. it's best fresh.
3. the dishes aren't going to wash themselves.
4. wonders if the paint on my latest project is dry. i want to continue on to the next layer.
5. ready to buy an old house and gut it.
6. could take a walk and keep walking...just like forest gump.
7. i still feel happy everytime i eat since having my gallbladder out. no pain.
8. love that its a hotter-than-normal summer.
9. need to get a vacation on the calendar.
10. has never really felt the need to have a pool but laying out last weekend by the hotel pool outdoors may have changed my mind. the most relaxed i've been in a long time.
11. love the feel of the sun baking my skin to a crisp.
12. have been enjoying my family immensely.
13. can't believe i have a 14 yr old, high school freshman. i'm so not old enough for this to be happening.
14. i think we'll grill out dinner and relax on the deck with a fire and some roasted marshmallows. ok i bought chocolate too.
15. found my journal. finally.
16. ready to make some new art.

the speed of life...
Somehow my life seems to be going at
the speed of this train.
I don't know how it happend.
It just did.
Everything is a blur right now.
The end of the days come and new
ones begin before I even know it.
What really freaks me out is that
we just started the month of JUNE!
Half of the year is g-o-n-e.
All of my attention in the last 3 months has been
focused on health, of the physical kind.
All of it unexpected and urgent.
Looking through my list of goals
at this half way mark
it appears that I have not really
made progress on the things
I set out to do this year.
However, I feel accomplished.
Just because my year, thus far, has been full
of the unexpected doesn't mean I am behind
on my goals. It just means that maybe what I had
written down wasn't what I needed to focus on
in the timing I had planned.
I have given lots of my focus to
my family and am fulfilled by it.
I have let myself get
stressed and overwhelmed
with the work I have gotten behind on.
It weighs on me, of course, but
I know in my heart I have made
the right choices. Not perfectly
executed but right choices.
By making the right choices, I believe,
this works in favor of my written list,
eventhough my written list and my
"right choices" are not related.
Romans 8:28 comes to mind.
It seems like something has
been trying to steal my focus
with unexpecteds and by
dialing up the speed of life,
but I have not gotten sidetracked.
As the second half of the year begins
I am keeping my written list in mind.
It still excites me to complete it.
